about

On July 3, Bandcamp directs their cut to the artists. I'll be donating 50% of all proceeds to The Movement For Black Lives & The Equal Justice Initiative.

In December of 2017, I performed a 2-hour solo guitar live-composed piece called "This City, This Tulpa" at the Wherehouse Art Hotel. I played in relative silence, with a trio of headphones in front of me for folks to listen in on, while a projection of photos of Winston-Salem slowly deconstructed then reassembled behind me.

When the audience entered my room, they only heard the plinking of unamplified strings. Once headphones were applied, a soundworld unfolded. After the first hour, I started the second hour as a reimagined manifestation, or tulpa, of the first. Yes, I was watching lots of "Twin Peaks: The Return" at this time.

It was part of an event called "Food for Thought" organized by Helen Simoneau Danse. There were projects scattered among the rooms of the space, so attendees could wander and experience different types of art happenings live.

This is hour 2 of the performance. If you purchase on Bandcamp, you can get the tracks cut up into individual pieces.

With only an electric guitar and a small army of pedals, Eddie Garcia builds complex little symphonies of sound, microcosmic devotionals to a world of kaleidoscopic wonder. Garcia woos listeners into an atmosphere of neon, upon which fluorescent melodies dance in tightly scripted patterns. These imaginative instrumentals are entirely absorbing. ... more
